Cities: Senchal
This is the official discussion thread for Senchal. Any and all lore pertaining to Senchal should be discussed here whether it be history, geography, or culture.
Re: Cities: Senchal
Senchal would be a port city, with travel back to Vvardenfell, or compatibility with other province mods that want in, to other provinces. I would also assume that Senchal would be fairly lush, and green, as it is on the Seaside.
Re: Cities: Senchal
Whole neighborhoods were razed in an attempt to cleanse the place of the Knahaten Flu. Here's a quote from The Imperial Library:
"This infamous city is the largest port in southern Tamriel. Its sprawl covers the easternmost tip of Elsweyr's Quin'rawl peninsula, a motley assortment of bazaars, taverns, merchant quarters, and open-air markets ringed on three sides by its crowded harbors. Senchal is a favorite stopping point for pirates and sea captains seeking to ply illegal or blackmarket goods, it being far easier to smuggle these goods into and out of the Empire by way of the Topal Sea than to use the well-guarded inland highways. Thieves abound here, as do beggars and pathetic khajiit sugar junkies. The traveler is advised to steer clear of Black Keirgo, Senchal's most squalid and dangerous quarter, when visiting the city. Illicit sugar-dens line the streets here, where beastmen and nobility alike wither away in sucrose fevers. All in all, Senchal is the ugliest city outside of Imperial jurisdiction. The air is humid and full of the chimney-smoke caught in the eddies from the surrounding coasts. Much of the city is abandoned or in ruins. In CE560, a strain of the Knahaten Flu blew across the channel from nearby Argonia and quickly infected the city's population. Whole neighborhoods were razed in some mad effort to cleanse Senchal of the Flu and have never been rebuilt. Visitors to the open-air markets can see these charred skylines on the periphery, as black and jagged as the teeth of the nearest sugar junkie, begging for cake."

Re: Cities: Senchal
A guild of necromancers? While the forests of Elsweyr pose some of the same problems as those of Black Marsh, the deserts preserve corpses for hundreds of years in a way that requires very little preparation. Khajiit of the desert tribes are often buried with only a small cairn of stones which are easy to find and uncover. The Khajiit show remarkably enlightened indifference to graves being uncovered. It is said that in the port of Senchal, one may purchase anything one desires. This is true if you desire fresh corpses.

Re: Cities: Senchal
An ally shop that sells Body parts for Alchemy. Like maybe a summon creature potion and stuff like that.
Re: Cities: Senchal
One of the members of Morag Tong assassinates Potentate Versidue-Shaie in his palace in what is today the Elsweyr kingdom of Senchal. (from the Imperial Library)
That means during the Second Era, the Imperial Palace wasn't the White Gold Tower? We have to do something to show this glorious past!

Re: Cities: Senchal
I'd say we'd have to have a nice huge palace in senchal when we have our architecture for it.
Re: Cities: Senchal
With a "nice huge" ruler too? You know, the fat type that just sits and orders his slaves to do everything for him.
Re: Cities: Senchal
We have to make a fat suit for this guy! There are no fat people if you haven't noticed. We should put fat rich people in Elsweyr.
Re: Cities: Senchal
Nah, Then they'd all be one race. A fat breton, fat imperial and fat orc are all great!
Re: Cities: Senchal
I think you can make fat guys by creating an animation file with a rescaled skeleton. I remember someone posted an image with a big-armed argonian but I can't say where I saw it. The advantage is all clothes and armors are automatically adapted.
I've found a mod for Oblivion using this effect but I don't know how to apply it to Morrowind (but I think it's possible)

Re: Cities: Senchal
hmhmhmhmhm! I wish we had that for morrowind. Heck, we ain't gotta have fat guys. I'd say that if anywhere would have it, Cyrodiil would. Well, anywho, this isn't lore, it's development. This is a lore topic sooo...history?
Re: Cities: Senchal
This is the lore to do for the city:
What was the influence of the Akaviri in the city? What events directly occured after the murder of the Potentate? An imperial vengeance?
It is writtent that the city was almost entirely burnt and not rebuilt after the Knahaten Flu during the Second Era. Why? Was the plague so important?
How was the city since this event? Did they fear there is still disease?
Senchal was sacked by imperial forces at the end of the Second Era. Why?
Why the city has recently became a resort?
Who is the King? How Khajiits see foreigners?
What is the influence of the Black Keirgo? The Empire? The other provinces?

Re: Cities: Senchal
We should discuss about places of interest: inns, taverns, shops, garden, temple, palace, Census and Excise Office, guilds, etc...
What are the names? Which God is worshipped? What are the new factions? Is there any particular building?
Stories, legends and rumors could be usefull too to help the modders to give a feeling of life to the city. (Example: a Necromancer have his shop in the darkest alley of the Black Keirgo -> have to make a dark place difficult to access)

Re: Cities: Senchal
The pirate bay.
That would be the greatest thing to see on a tavern's sign!
Surely we can keep some of the inns and taverns from ARENA. Some of them would likely still be in business. Maybe there could be one or two from arena that are still in the same area of the city. It'd be a nice easter egg or reference to the first game.
