Death of A Hero Empty Death of A Hero

Post by The Khan Mon 20 Feb 2012, 6:47 am

Claiming Death of A Hero. Smile Getting started right now.

It was raining; it was always raining in this place. Heedal grew up in this weather so he was used to it. Heedal was an Argonian, he lived in the Black Marsh for all of his life. He lived in a house just north of Archon. It was a small tunnel system among the roots of a tree; he lived there with his parents. He was making his way from their home to Archon to buy some well needed supplies. It was not a far walk so it was safe enough to go by foot. He didn’t come across many travellers along the road, not much wild life either, just a few birds.

When he got there it was crowded. It was more crowded than usual. A few Imperials here and there but mostly everyone was Argonian. He, slowly, made his way ducking and weaving through the crowed towards the shop he was looking for. It was an old building that sold... almost anything. Inside there was food, ingredients, books, a few potions, and a few odds and ends. His parents said that he was allowed to buy one book. He looked at all of the books and after a while of indecision, he decided to get a book called ‘A Great Many Names’, it sounded interesting. He then went to the food and took four loafs of bread and some Mudcrab Meat. He then went over to the ingredients and picked out the spices that his mother asked him to. Next was the Potions, the only potions he needed to get were a few healing potions and agility potions, the swamp was a dangerous place and it was sometimes safer to run than to fight.

After he got all he needed he went to the counter, standing there was an old family friend, whose name was Tsabhira. Her fur had a red dusty look, almost ginger but not quite, she was taller than most and her clothes were simple, but nice and effective. She was of the Senche-Tiger breed, she was a smart one and found her way out of most problems. She had even once told him a story of when she was taken captive and escaped from some bandits in Skyrim. She was very adventurous, always going off for months at a time, maybe more.

She didn’t wear shoes. Heedal had once asked her why that was, when he was little, and she had said “I like the feel of warm sand on my feet, it is such a good feeling”.

Heedal was confused “But there is no sand here”.

Tsabhira had just smiled and said “Well I did not come from here did I?”

At that time he had no idea what she meant.

She saw him walking to the counter and smiled, “Hi, how are your parents?” she asked.

“They are good; father almost got eaten again yesterday”

“He’s always getting into that sort of trouble. So what do you have to buy today?” she asked leaning on the counter.

"Just a few supplies, you know, the necessaries"

Heedal placed his items on the counter and Tsabhira sorted through them placing them in groups and counted them. He had never learned how to count so he had always wondered how she did it “That will be 34 coins” she said.

“Is this enough?” Heedal asked, emptying his pockets contents onto the counter.

“Your 3 coins short, never mind, it doesn’t matter, it’s just 3 coins”

Heedal had a leather rucksack to put them in. He scooped it all into the bag making sure not to break the potion vials. He nodded and said thanks and walk out of the shop.

The walk home seemed shorter than the walk to town. He had
come most of the way with his head down already stuck in his book. So maybe
that’s why it seemed shorter.

Heedal had always loved reading but other people thought he
was a bit strange for it. “It isn’t right for a young person like you to be
reading” or “Why don’t you spend your time training to defend yourself”.
Granted, the swamps were dangerous but the swamp creatures didn’t bother them
all that much.

Being the book worm he was, drawn into the story and all, he
smelled the smoke before he saw it. When he did smell it though, he looked up
to see the house on fire.

Heedal dropped his book and the leather rucksack and ran as
fast as he could, hoping to find survivors. He ran over to the door and it was
already open. Going in he saw his father on the ground still alive, barely.

“Father!” He yelled. Tears started to come to his eyes.

Making sure not to burn himself he ran over to his father
and dragged him back through the door and into the cold air. It was obvious
that he didn’t have long until death claimed him.

“Father, who did this?” Heedal asked.

“Listen to me, you need to find mother. They took her.”

“Who took her father?”

“Go to Tsabhira, she’ll know what to do.”

“Father, No! Don’t give up father! You can’t!” Heedal
started crying and curled up on the ground next to his father too miserable to
move, or even think about moving. But somehow he managed to lift himself up and
slowly made his short journey, once again, back to town.

I think 900 words should do. Razz

Smile When you think about it, it's the best type because it's proof that you can mod with that perspective in mind.

The best showcase is one made based off of the description of a claim as it can be used in the project. NEW PROTOCOL: Any member can contribute literature. You don't have to be a modder to contribute literature. No promotions will be given for literature. It's not a field in high demand as of yet.

Sorry, RL problems. Here is what I've got so far. I was working towards that he returns home to his dead family and chases after the clues to avenge his family. It would be very unfair if he died without that vengeance. I would be happy for someone to finish it for me:

It was raining; it was always raining in this place. Heedal grew up in this weather so he was used to it. Heedal was an Argonian, he lived in the Black Marsh for all of his life. He lived in a house just north of Archon. It was a small tunnel system among the roots of a tree; he lived there with his parents. After he got all he needed he went to the counter, standing there was an old family friend, his name was (Khajiit)

Very good. I like it. It'd be a shame if it went to a less experienced author.
